International Piano Competition "Spanish Composers"

The 26th International Piano Competition for Spanish Composers will be held from November 8 to 14, 2026. The 1st Junior Competition will take place from April 16 to 19, 2026.

Each year, the Senior Competition pays tribute to a Spanish composer. In the next edition, the competition will be dedicated to the composer Federico Mompou

PROGRAM

The program presented by contestants of all levels shall be of free choice, provided that the established time limits are respected. In addition, contestants must include a Spanish music piece, the level of this piece will vary according to the category.

The organization will provide Los Cuadernos de Adriana (Volumes 1,2 and 3) by Antón García Abril to participants once they have completed the application form. Los Cuadernos de Adriana are not permitted in the Juvenile and Young Artist categories.

Category Infantil A – up to 10 years old

First Round: Duration between 5 minutes and a maximum of 10 minutes.
Spanish work: One piece to be chosen from Los Cuadernos de Adriana (Volumes 1 or 2) by Antón García Abril.

Final Round: Duration between 5 minutes and a maximum of 10 minutes.

Category Infantil B – from 11 until 13 years old

First Round: Duration of 8 – 10 minutes.
Spanish work: One freely chosen work by a Spanish composer or one piece from Los Cuadernos de Adriana (Volume 3) by Antón García Abril.

Final Round: Duration of 10 – 15 minutes.

Category Juvenile – from 14 until 16 years old

First Round: Duration of 10 – 15 minutes.
Spanish work: One or more works of Spanish music.

Final Round: Minimum duration of 15 minutes and a maximum of 25 minutes.

Category Young Artist – from 17 until 20 years old

First Round: Duration of 15 – 20 minutes.
Spanish work: One or more works of Spanish music.

Final Round: Minimum duration of 30 minutes and a maximum of 40 minutes.

– The inclusion of the same work in different rounds will not be accepted in any category.
– Individual movements or selected parts of works such as sonatas, partitas, suites, intermezzos, etc., are permitted.
– The repertoire is entirely free and at the participant’s discretion.

– All works must be performed from memory and without repeats.

– Although Spanish music is mandatory in the first round, it is permitted to perform Spanish music again in the final round.

– No changes to the program will be accepted after the application deadline.
